융합과 공존, 다시점, 열린 사고 등에 대해 끊임없이 이야기해온 작가에게 이태원은 또 하나의 작은, 세상의 접점이다. 세계 각지에서 흘러 들어온 사람들과, 그들의 다문화가 융합되어 있다는 점에서 이태원은 작가의 주거지인 뉴욕과 일맥상통한다. 거리에 빼곡히 들어선 상점과 왠지 이국적인 물건들, 바쁘게 걸어가는 젊은이들, 귓가를 스쳐가는 외국어들, 코 끗을 자극하는 향신료들, 모습이 다른 사람들,,,,,

이 전시는 그런 이태원의사람들을 위한 작품들로 이루어 졌다. 보물찾기에 성공한듯, 숨은 그림을 찾은 둣 “발견”되어지고 일상의 한 순간을 즐겁게 하는 작은 공간을 만들고자 하는 마음을 담고 있다.

작가의 반려견인 브루클린 강아지, 바닐라와 체리는 마치 이 전시의 주인공인듯 등장한다. 부귀영화를 상징하는 커다란 모란모자를 쓰고 있기도 하고, 회오리 치는 모란꽃에서 튀어 날아 오르기도 하고, 관객을 바라보며 황금모란똥을 싸기도 한다.

추억의 바나나우유에서 나오는 청룡, 옷리 귀리우유에서 나오는 황룡, 향기로운 마비스 치약에서 불꽃놀이처럼 튀어나오는 모란꽃, 17세기 이탈리안 액자와 족자에서는 구름물이 흘러나오는데, 작품 하나하나 마다 작가가 소곤소곤 작은 스토리를 전해준다.
Metamorphosis 시리즈 작품들에서는 히틀러, 무솔리니 등 독재자의 총 이미지가 꽃이나 구름, 물 등의 평화로운 자연물로 탈변하는 모습으로 그려졌다. 이 작품은 국가적 차원이건 개인적 차원이건 자신의 우월한 힘을 남용하는 모든 사람들에게, 세계로 열린 이태원의 창구를 통해 작가가 전하는 성찰의 메세지이다. 이번 전시 작품 중 유일하게 한지에 그려진 그림이다.

그 외의 다른 모든 작품들은 나무합판을 모양대로 자른 후 채색화 기법으로 제작하였다.

이번 전시에서는 작가의 실험적인 설치작품을 디자인 상품으로 재해석하여 발표해온 ‘날아오르다’ 부적 스티커, ‘Object d’art’ 전기스위치 벽장식 스티커, 노트삼종세트, fuck 문진 등의 아트 디자인 상품이 함께 소개된다.
